How to connect parents and children under one login.

Families often want to manage multiple members from one account. Culturello makes this easy through Linked Family Accounts, which allow a parent or guardian to view and manage their child’s activity, points, and progress in one place.

This guide will help staff determine the correct setup path and assist families quickly.

Identify the Starting Point

When a member asks about linking family accounts or sharing an email address, the first step is to understand where they are starting.

Ask the member:

  • Are you setting up a brand-new account?

  • Are you adding another child to the program?

  • Are you seeing an error when using the same email address?

  • Do you already have multiple accounts and want them connected?

Their starting point determines the correct process.

There are two possible starting points:

  • Starting from the Child’s Account

  • Starting from the Parent/Guardian Account

Quick Start Guide

Situation Best Starting Point
Child registered first Invite parent from child account
Parent registering first Parent creates account then links children
Same email error Update member username
Multiple accounts already exist Link from parent account

Scenario 1 — Starting from the Child’s Account

(Most common situation)

This usually happens when the child registers first, either through:

  • An email invitation

  • A rewards card

  • A QR code registration

The parent can then be invited from inside the child’s account.

Register or Log Into the Child’s Account

If the child is not yet registered:

Have the parent complete registration using:

  • The email invitation, or

  • The instructions on the rewards card

If the child is already registered:

Have the parent log into the child’s account.

Invite the Parent/Guardian

Once logged into the child’s account, direct them to:

Menu (≡) → My Profile → Invite Parent/Guardian

(Screenshot: Invite Parent/Guardian screen)

They should:

  • Enter the parent/guardian’s name and email

  • Click Send Invitation

They should:

  • Enter the parent/guardian’s details and email address
  • Send the invitation

Parent Completes Registration

The parent will receive an email invitation.

They must:

  1. Open the email

  2. Click the registration link

  3. Complete account setup

Once finished, the parent and child accounts will automatically link together. The parent can now manage the family from a single login.

Scenario 2 — Starting from the Parent/Guardian

Sometimes the parent begins registration first.

This can happen when the parent:

  • Registers through a QR code

  • Registers through the program microsite

  • Is added by the office and sent an invite

Parent Registers Their Account

The parent must first create their own account.

They can register by:

• Accepting an email invitation from the office
• Scanning the program QR code
• Visiting the program registration page

If prompted for a code, they can select:

“I never received a number or code.”

During registration they should choose:

  • “I’m a parent/guardian of a member”

  • “To join a linked family”

Add Linked Family Members

After logging in, the parent can link family accounts.

Direct them to:

Menu (≡) → My Profile → Linked Family Members

From there they can:

  • Link an existing child account

  • Create and link a new child account

Common Questions & Troubleshooting

Why can’t we share the same email?

Each login requires a unique email address so the system can securely identify each member. Linked Family Accounts allow parents to manage multiple members from one login without sharing credentials.

Parent Can't Register

This usually happens when the parent’s email is already being used as a member login.

To resolve:

  1. Log into the member’s account

  2. Create a new unique username for the member

  3. Remove the parent’s email from the member login field

  4. The parent can now register using their email

Password Reset Emails Go to the Wrong Person

This happens when the wrong username is used for password reset.

Remind families: Always request password resets using the correct username, not the parent’s email.

Member Was Set Up with Social Login

To switch to a username/password login:

  • Log in using the social login

  • Go to My Profile

  • Create a username and password

  • Disconnect the social login under Login & Security Settings

How to Tell if a Member Is Registered

Open the member’s profile in the office portal.

Registered accounts will show:

  • A username under Membership Info

  • Last login listed under the profile photo

  • No registration alert

Unregistered accounts will show:

  • A red banner stating “Member is not registered”

  • A Send Invite option

  • Last Sent and Next Auto Send timestamps

Can Multiple Parents Be Linked?

No. Each member can only be linked to one parent or guardian account.
