Families love keeping everyone’s rewards in one place. Linked Family Accounts let one Family Manager (a parent or guardian) switch between family members and track everyone’s points, rewards, and milestones with a single login.
This guide helps your team pick the right setup path and get families connected quickly, so every family member starts earning and stays engaged.
The Recommended Setup: Register Everyone, Then Link
The smoothest path for families is:
- Register every family member first, each with their own account and unique username. The business code in the mobile app is the fastest way to do this.
- Link the accounts. The Family Manager logs in and links each family member.
Why it matters: Registering everyone up front means the family has every username and password ready, so linking takes just a minute and nobody gets stuck halfway.
Tip: Share your business code at the front desk, on your Linked Family flyer, or in new member packets. It’s the easiest way for families to register without waiting on an invitation.
Identify the Starting Point
When a member asks about linking accounts or sharing an email, start by asking:
- Is anyone in the family registered yet?
- Are you adding a new family member to an existing linked family?
- Are you seeing an error when using the same email address?
- Do you already have multiple accounts you want connected?
Quick Start Guide
| Situation | Best Path |
|---|---|
| No one is registered yet | Register everyone with the business code, then link from the Family Manager account |
| Child is registered, parent isn’t | Invite the parent from the child’s account (auto-links) |
| Parent is registered, children aren’t | Register children with the business code, then link from the parent account |
| Everyone already has accounts | Link from the Family Manager account |
| Same email error | Add username to child and move email to parent/guardian field |
Scenario 1: No One Is Registered Yet (Recommended Path)
Step 1: Register Each Family Member
Direct the family to:
- Download the mobile app.
- Tap Register and enter your business code.
- Follow the prompts to complete registration for the first family member.
- Log out, enter the business code again, and repeat for each family member, including the Family Manager.
Remind them to jot down each username and password as they go. They’ll need them to link.
Members can also register from an email invitation, a rewards card, a QR code, or your Hub website. Any method works, as long as each person ends up with a unique username.
Step 2: Link the Accounts
Once everyone is registered, the Family Manager:
- Log in to the Family Manager account.
- Go to Menu (≡) → My Profile.
- Click Linked Family
- Click Link Your Child
- Enter the Username & Password or click Create & Link New Account
- Repeat for each family member.
Scenario 2: The Child Is Registered, the Parent Isn’t
This is common when a child registered first through an invitation, rewards card, or QR code.
- Have the parent log in to the child’s account.
- Go to Linked Family → Add Parent.
- Enter the parent/guardian’s name and email, then send the invitation.
- The parent opens the email, clicks the registration link, and completes setup.
Once the parent finishes registering, that child’s account links automatically. The parent can then link any other family members from their own account.
Scenario 3: The Parent Is Registered, Children Aren’t
Recommend registering each child with the business code (log out of the parent account first), then linking from the parent account as shown in Scenario 1, Step 2.
The Family Manager can also create a new child account directly from Linked Family Members, but registering first with the business code keeps setup consistent and avoids missed steps.
Scenario 4: Everyone Already Has Accounts
The Family Manager logs in and links each family member from Menu (≡) → My Profile → Linked Family using each member’s username and password.
Common Questions & Troubleshooting
Why can’t family members share the same login?
Each member needs a unique username so the system can securely identify them and keep their rewards separate. A parent’s email can still be listed in each child’s Parent/Guardian Info for notifications and password resets. Linked Family Accounts let parents manage everyone without sharing credentials.
The parent can’t register because their email is already in use.
The parent’s email is likely being used as a child’s login. To fix it:
- Log in to the child’s account
- Go to My Profile → Profile Information
- Create a unique username for the child
- In the Contact Info section, remove your email from the Email field
- Move your email to the parent/guardian field
Members 13 and older can use their own email address, which also serves as their username. After registering, they can add a parent or guardian email under My Profile → Profile Information → Parent/Guardian Info.
Password reset emails are going to the wrong person.
This happens when a reset is requested with the parent’s email instead of the child’s username. Remind families to always request resets using the correct username.
A member registered with Google, Apple, or Facebook and wants a username and password instead.
- Log in with the social login.
- Go to My Profile and create a username and password.
- Disconnect the social login under Login & Security Settings.
How can I tell if a member is registered?
Open the member’s profile in your Hub.
- Registered: shows a username under Membership Info, a last login under the profile photo, and no registration alert.
- Not registered: shows a red banner (“Member is not registered”), a Send Invite option, and Last Sent and Next Auto Send timestamps.
Can more than one parent be linked to a child?
No. Each member can be linked to only one Family Manager account.
How do I turn off self-registration?
Go to Settings ⚙️ → Other Settings → General → Intake & Registration.
