Understanding Tags, Member Types & Groups

To unlock the power of Groups in your Rewards Hub, let’s first clarify two essential building blocks:

  • Member Types
    Every person in your Hub is assigned a Member Type when they’re added—either as a Member or a Lead. These types help you organize your people based on their journey stage.
     
  • Tags
    Tags are fully customizable labels you create and apply to members—regardless of their type. Think of them like smart filters that help you group members across roles, teams, or behaviors.
     

Why Tags Matter
Tags allow you to pull members from different types into the same Group, making your outreach more meaningful and your automations more effective.

In short:
Groups = Members (of any type) + Shared Tags

How to Create a Tag

Creating Tags is quick and no-code easy.

Go to Settings ⚙️ > Tags.

Click Add New Tag.

Give your tag a name that’s clear and useful. (e.g., "Invisalign", "New Hire", "VIP Referrer")

 

Click Create Tag.

Your new Tag is now ready to use across member profiles and Groups.

 

Adding Tags to Groups

Once your tags are set, it’s time to put them to work.

Go to Settings ⚙️ > Groups. Select or create the Group you want to manage. Assign one or more Tags to that Group.
This step connects the dots—bringing together members who share a common Tag into one unified Group. Perfect for sending targeted campaigns, automating rewards, or setting specific access controls. Click here for step-by-step Group setup instructions.

 

Tagging a Member

To assign or update a Tag for a specific member:

Open the member’s profile and click the Profile tab.
Just under the Status button, click Edit Tags.

Select the Tags that apply—or remove ones that no longer fit.
Click Done.

That’s it! Tags update in real-time and immediately reflect in your Group configurations and automations.

 

Access Control

Once your Tags and Groups are aligned, take it one step further by managing what different members can see or do within the Hub.

Go to Settings ⚙️ > Access Control to fine-tune permissions based on your Group strategy. Click here for Access Control setup instructions.
